The Doctor
The First Thirteen Incarnations
Known by numerous names, but properly known as the "Original Doctor" as that is what he was to Legacy Who. The Doctor was also known as the Oncoming Storm (given the name by the Daleks) as well as Theta Sigma (his name as a student in the Time Lord Academy). His original, true, name is lost to time and history and was actually rumoured to be written under the Medusa Cascade as a sort of seal, but this was never confirmed either.
The most important detail, in regards to the Legacy, is that he passed away before the beginning of the series and he is only ever seen in either flashback "memories" or when the new Doctor accidentally crosses the time lines (or vice versa) and they get to team up.
A man with thirteen faces, all of them memorable. More than that and you'd have to check the full wiki on him. For that go here. No, this isn't our site but we refer to it... alot.

The New Doctor
Fourteen
Not seen directly in Legacy Who, but seen in the actual series. The Fourteenth Doctor became so when her grandfather, the original Doctor, died and left her with his legacy and the TARDIS. She could have chosen to leave things as they were but she chose to take up his mantle, his name and the TARDIS and continue where he left off. From that day forward, Susan Foreman-Campbell became the Doctor, and to keep the legacy uninterrupted simply called herself the Fourteenth Doctor. Her companions would include River Song, who also was there when the Original Doctor died, and would then be joined by Jason Hinderman later on. Both would stay by the side of the Doctor until she regenerated again.

Fifteen
After she regenerated, she would continue to adventure for an indeterminate time until an alien menace started capturing the former companions of the Original Doctor in a bid to lure the Time Lord into a trap.
The trap would instead ensnare Fifteen, who used the misdirection of everyone expecting a male Doctor to her advantage in order to free them all. She was wounded in the ensuing battle, but would recover with the aid of her companions as well as those her grandfather travelled with... and so would begin the Fan Series with the pilot episode "Female of the Species."
